‘More Fun’ just gets more (and more) fun!
Although Dr. Fate has seemingly (and inexplicably) abandoned his magic feats, at this point in his crime-fighting career, I’m still enjoying his less-mystic adventures.
The Red Sage’s use of cards, and card-themed minions, can be seen as precursors to The Justice League villains The Royal Flush Gang, that would appear 24-years later.
It’s also interesting to note that Gardner Fox created both.
Keep the Golden Age coverage coming!

Thanks for listening.
The majority of his magic was apparently inherently in the helm and with his setting that aside he is having to rely on residual physical benefits. I look forward to the resumption of his magics but it will be a little while. I dig the Dr Fate that can go toe to toe with Spectre.
I’m not sure there had been too many card themed villains at this point for DC so Red Sage is certainly a pre-cursor to the card themed villains to come later. It would be interesting to look around and see if Fox left behind any other card themed characters.
